Long before Tumble & Twig had a name, it had a question: why does playing have to be so complicated?
Somewhere between "congratulations" and "now what?", we found ourselves standing in toy aisles that buzzed, flashed, and beeped — shelf after shelf of plastic gadgets promising to make a child smarter, faster, happier. It was loud. It was a lot. And somewhere in that fluorescent-lit chaos, we started wondering if there wasn't a gentler way to do this whole "play" thing.
That's when we stumbled into the world of Montessori-inspired play: toys made from real wood instead of plastic, designed to be touched, stacked, twisted, and figured out rather than switched on. No flashing lights demanding attention. No single "right" way to use them. Just simple, open-ended objects that trust a child to lead, explore, and learn at their own pace. It felt less like a parenting trend and more like common sense we'd somehow forgotten.
Tumble & Twig is our way of sharing that discovery — a small, carefully curated shop filled with toys that are simple on the outside and full of possibility on the inside. Every product we carry gets the same question: would this spark curiosity, or just noise? If the answer is noise, it doesn't make the cut.
We're not Montessori experts, and we're not pretending to be. We're just learning, the way every parent does — one wooden block, one triumphant little "I did it!" at a time. We built this store for the parents standing exactly where we once stood: a little overwhelmed, a little curious, looking for toys that feel as thoughtful as the love behind them.
Play should be simple. Childhood should be unhurried. And more often than not, the best toys are the quietest ones. Welcome to Tumble & Twig. 🌱
